The star of "Steppin' Out," Carrie Weiland, has been motivating people to get into shape since 1979 with her high-energy approach and unique blend of knowledge and flare. During her years in the fitness industry, Carrie has taught thousands of classes at numerous facilities in the San Diego area, including community colleges and sports-medicine centers. She was Aerobics Director at Sharp Hospital's Center for Sports Medicine for almost seven years and is certified through the American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.) Carrie has appeared as a fitness consultant on local news shows, has been a featured presenter at charity aerobathon events (Cystic Fibrosis Shape-Up, City of Hope Against AIDS), and has shared her expertise with other aspiring fitness instructors through workshops at the University of California at San Diego and the Center for Sports Medicine.
Recently, Carrie added general personal training to her one-on-one instructor-training endeavors. Carrie has also been a singer since childhood and has performed as a professional since 1982, including stints with various favorite local bands, singing on commercial jingles for radio and performing as a solo artist. She is lead vocalist with "The Fabulous Mar Dels," one of San Diego's most popular bands. In addition to teaching and singing, Carrie writes music. She combines her experience in the fitness and music industries to write her own high-energy music for aerobic and fitness classes. Carrie has been writing and producing the instrumental background music for Tamilee Webb's ongoing Choreography Club Videos for Instructors. "It's the best video music I've ever used!" said Webb, who has starred in many successful exercise videos (The Rubberband Workout, Buns of Steel). |
